Thirty-three-year old director Tom Hooper directed 'Daniel Deronda' for BBC/WGBH. 'Deronda' won best drama at the Broadcasting Press Awards, best mini-series at Banff and two BAFTA's.
'Deronda' starred Romola Garai, Hugh Dancy, Edward Fox and Barbara Hershey and received critical acclaim in the US and the UK where it played to audiences of 6m on BBC1.

In 2004 Tom finished his first feature film and was nominated for an Emmy Award for the TV series Prime Suspect which he directed, and featured Helen Mirren.

In 2006 he won an Emmy Award in the category 'Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special' for Elizabeth I starring Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons.
In 2007 this mini-series won an Golden Globe in the category "Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made for Television". Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons both won an Golden Globe in the categories "Best Performance by an Actor & Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television".
